Are you worried about your air travel during these Covid times?? Is that travel unavoidable? Well, here are some precautions you can take to minimize your risk of becoming unwell. These safety measures can be taken during any flu season or always.

It is already established that a mask is a must during travel or otherwise. So we will exclude that point and talk about other precautions:

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands, as viruses most frequently enter the body through these routes.
  • Use a hand sanitizer which has at least 60% alcohol in it, in case soap and water are not available to clean your hands.
  • Always carry disinfecting wipes to clean your seat armrest, tray table, seat-back pocket, air vent, seat touch screen, headrest, window blind, etc.
  • Stop worrying about the contamination in the circulating air within the cabin due to the air conditioner. Because most of the modern aircrafts have High Efficiency Particulate Absorber filters installed that will filter 99% of dust particles and airborne contaminants such as viruses and bacteria, ensuring the highest possible quality of cabin air. So just breathe easy.
  • Keep yourself hydrated and drink more water to compensate for the cabin dryness as the low humidity in aircraft cabins dries out your eyes, nose and mouth, making them less effective in blocking out viruses.
  • Lastly and most importantly, do not travel if you are unwell. There is a chance that you will be denied boarding if you have fever, cold, cough etc. even though it is unrelated to covid-19. Protect yourself, and other travelers, by not flying when you’re sick.
